For Jayden's first birthday in July, Tio Aaron bought him a ball pit. It also came with instructions from Tio to "throw balls everywhere!" Well, Jayden of course HAD to listen to his Tio... here he is, following instructions and throwing balls all over mommy's kitchen!

On Sunday mommy and papi took me to the pumpkin patch. I got to ride on a hayride, pick a pumpkin from a real patch, pet some baby pigs and baby bunnies, run around, get dirty... it was a great afternoon!

One of my favorite things to do is read. The other day, mommy was doing laundry, and all of a sudden noticed that the house was very very quiet... so she wandered around the house looking for me. And she found me, in my room, being a very good boy! I was just sitting in my rocking chair, reading my book. I love to read!

Of course I was so cute, and mommy was so proud of me, that she just had to take some pics!

When I'm not reading my Sesame Street books, I sit on my Sesame Street couch and watch Sesame Street on tv. I love my couch!

And this is a super short video, but if you check it out, you can see Jayden's first egg head bump. Right in between his eyes, a big bump. He fell into a bookcase, head first, last week. Mommy was more upset than Jayden.... I guess boys will be boys!

For Jayden's birthday, he got his very own rocking horse from grandma and grandpa. Mommy was less than thrilled, since it takes up room in the already toy filled living room and of course plays lots of music.... but Jayden loves it! Here he is riding his horsey and having fun :)

Once again, I've been a slacker, but we've been busy so give me a break!! :)
Jayden is doing wonderful, as always- he is running now, and climbing, jumping, just overall being a B-O-Y!!!

One of his favorite things to do is dance. So even though he may look like his papi, he did at least get his moves from his mama! He loves loves loves to dance, and loves music. We'll try to get a video of him dancing soon.

A day at the lake!

On Sunday, Jayden's actual birthday, we went up to a beautiful lake in the mountains and had a small BBQ. The day would have been perfect, except for two things: 1- Jason had to work and couldn't come with us! and 2- it was cold! much colder than we thought it was going to be.

But we had fun anyways, and Jayden the beach baby especially loved it.

Jayden's birthday was Sunday, July 12, but we had a luau cookout on Saturday. We invited lots of people, some of Nikki's friends, some of Jason's friends & teammates, and of course, all of Jayden's 1 year old friends too :) Overall it was an amazing party, just how we'd want our son's first birthday to be :)

So mom & dad came up for their annual trip to Vancouver, and my baby bro decided to make his first trip to see us too. Timing was perfect, since they were here for Jayden's birthday. Here are some pics from their trip:

The first morning they were here, my mom & I ran a 10K together. We mostly walked, because we were talking the whole time :) We hadn't seen each other for 6 months!

The month honestly flew by, between Jason coming home from camp, my parents and brother coming up for a visit, and of course the biggest news- our little man turned 1! He is no longer a baby, that's for sure. I am going to upload a bunch of pics of my parent's trip and his birthday party... and promise to try to keep the updates coming!

Family Day with the Lions

Yesterday Jayden and I drove out to camp to see Jason and spend some time with the whole Lions family for the annual family day & fan fest. Jayden decided this was the perfect day to perfect his walk, so he is now fully up and mobile!! Here are some pics from the day:

Hi! I'm so sorry, it's been a while since I've updated the blog. Things have been super super busy around here! At the end of April we went to Hawaii for 10 days (pics to come in another post), and then came back and Nikki bought a business (pre and post natal fitness, teaching classes to moms and moms-to-be!) and then Jason went back to camp and started another football season. It's been a busy 2 months!

So, family updates...

Jason is back into it with football. Busy as ever. Camp is going great! In fact today is family day, so Jayden and Nikki will be heading out there this afternoon to see papi and cheer him on.

Nikki is busy busy busy with the business and loving it. Getting to get all these moms up and moving is great!

Jayden...wow where to begin! He is now 11 months old, and just starting to walk all on his own. He can walk a good ways now, probably 15-20 steps, as long as he doesn't lose his balance. He loves to walk and gets super happy when he does! He has 6 teeth now, and the cutest smile ever. He waves hi and bye bye, and says mama, byebye, and Elmo (the important things in life, right??!) Still waiting on him to say papi!

Lola and Champ are great, too, although they are really missing Jason while he's away at camp, since I can't take them to the park everyday like Jason does.

So that's about all for La Familia Jimenez. I am going to add a few more posts with Hawaii pics and a pic of our little man taking some steps.

And I promise to be better with the blog updates!

WE HAVE A WALKER!

SO... we bought our little 9 month old a toy to try walking with. We never thought he'd know what to do with it right away. Of course, he surprised us! As soon as we stood him up next to it, he took off walking across the room!!!

Here is a video of our boy taking a few of his very first steps... I have a feeling he won't need this toy for very long at all!

I attempted to do laundry the other day... usually Jayden just plays on the floor nearby while I work, but this time, he found something new to do.

Yes, you are correct. Those are Jayden's little toes sticking out of my dryer. He climbed INTO the dryer!

Funniest part is, he was so so so mad at me when I took him out of there. Now, remind me why we spend money on toys??? :)

I haven't updated in a while, sorry about that! Things are good here, just enjoying the last few months we have off all together before the season starts, I go back to work, etc...

Jayden is great! He is now 8 1/2 months old, crawling like crazy, saying "mama," eating like crazy (he's 23 pounds already!). He's such a good baby!

Val and I have been friends since we were 4, so it was super special that we got pregnant at the same time, and even more special for our babies to meet for the first time!

This year, I cooked a full Thanksgiving meal for the first time, turkey and all! And I am very happy to report that I didn't burn or screw up anything :)

We ha some friends over, which made the day even better! Colin and Guilly brought baby Scarlette, Jason's cousin Jonathan came up from Seattle for the weekend, and Jason's teammate Dean came by too.

Last week, Jayden finally got to meet his french friend, Scarlett. Scarlett was born in February in Vancouver, but went to France for 3 months with her mommy and was away while Jayden was born. Here are Scarlett and Jayden together:

By the way... Scarlett is now 8 months old, and weight 17 pounds. Jayden is
3 1/2 months old, and weighs 16 pounds. Anyone else see a problem with this??? Our son is a BEAST! :)

Last Wednesday night, Nikki had to work at the gym and Jason had a dinner to go to with the offensive line. Since Jayden couldn't go to the gym, he instead got to hang out with the big boys, and had a boys night with the O-Line and his papi!

Needless to say, he was stylin and profiling for the occasion!

He was such a good boy- all the guys held him, Sherko (one of the guys) fed him his bottle and learned how to burp him, and of course the waitresses were all over him!

Unfortunately Jason forgot to have a picture taken with the whole o-line, but at least you can see how cute Jayden is here :)

2 month update

Jayden Antonio is officially 2 months old! He had his first shots on Friday, 4 of them, and is such a strong and brave little boy! He barely cried at all! He also had his 2 month check up, and is a very healthy and strong baby. Here are the newest stats:

Weight: 14 pounds

Height: 24 inches (2 feet already?!?!?)

Head circumference: 42 cm

He's a beast! I'll post new pics soon!

Hi from Jayden

It's been a few weeks, so I figured it was time for another Jayden update. Things are going well on our end, just getting bigger and bigger every day! Jayden will go for his 2 month shots on Sept. 12, so I will post a new weight and height update then. That afternoon, we have an appointment with the US Consulate so that we can get Jayden his US citizenship. It's so exciting that he'll be a dual citizen! :)

There were 3 other babies there- Logan is 10 weeks old, Haden is the same age as Jayden (born one day before Jayden!) and then Gwen is just 2 weeks old. Jayden is officially 6 weeks old tomorrow (Saturday). He is growing and growing every day! As of his checkup this week, our big boy weighs 11 pounds, 14 ounces (95th percentile!) and is almost 23" long (75th percentile).

He is so alert now, and loves to watch the mobile in his playpen and the waterfall in his crib. He also likes to sit and talk to his papi, cooing and drooling everywhere!

And in case you were wondering, he looks EXACTLY like his papi! Here they are, Jason and his mini-me:

I guess everyone is right, time really does fly, because our little tiny baby is already a month old! He seems like he really does grow and change every day... on his 3 week birthday, he rolled over for the first time from his belly to his back... he recognizes his mommy and daddy now and is cooing and talking more than ever!

Look how much he has changed in the past month! He's already up to over 10 and a half pounds... going to be a big boy like his daddy!

I know, I know, I've been gone for a while... but I have a really good reason, and his name is Jayden Antonio Jimenez!

Jayden was born (finally!) on July 12, 2008, at 2:30 pm. He was too big for his mommy, and had the cord wrapped around his neck, so he was born via c-section. He was born 9 pounds, 6.5 ounces, and 21 1/2 inches long- a big healthy boy!

Every email, phone call, text, smoke signal, etc... that I get, no matter from who, starts with something along the lines of:

"Have you dropped that kid yet?"
"Have you had the baby yet?"
"How are you feeling? In labor yet?"

Now I know that you all love us, and are super excited to meet Jayden (as are we) but NO I have not had the baby yet. I promise as soon as I do, I will let everyone know asap! :) I can't keep it a secret, I swear :)

In other news... as of this Friday I will be 39 weeks pregnant, so he could be here at any time! Hopefully soon!! :)

Tough day at the office!

First I have to say that I absolutely LOVE my job. I work in the best place in the world, and while it's tough sometimes, there are also amazing benefits...

For example, last week a group of my coworkers surprised me with a surprise baby shower one night after work at the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club. There were 14 of us, and unfortunately none of us brought a camera...but someone managed to take a pic of me with my gifts and balloons on my cell phone. The night was so nice, I got to visit with everyone, the food was great and of course they all bought me ridiculous amounts of gifts. Kim made the cutest little favors, and cupcakes from Cupcakes!! They did way too much!

Then yesterday the entire office- 70 people- got together to say goodbye and wish me good luck with the baby. My supervisor really did surprise me, as I was expecting it but wasn't sure when it was coming, and they completely caught me off guard. I was so confused when she opened the door and everyone was there! They had a huge cake and of course, more gifts, which were completely not necessary!!!

And then today was our department's staff appreciation day, and Joanne (my boss) took all 8 of us to lunch and then to get manicures and pedicures. If you've never been 9 months pregnant, fat, ready to pop, and swollen, you should know that pedicures are a gift from GOD!!! Here are a few pictures to show how tough of an afternoon I had...

36 week update!

It's been a while since I've posted an update... sorry about that! All is good on our end. Jason is back in camp, meaning football season has officially begun. I have 1 week of work left, and then I am on maternity leave for a whole year!! Baby Jayden is doing great. As you can see from the pic, he just keeps growing and growing...

Less than 30 days now till my due date! Will he be a June baby or a July baby? Either way, won't be long now!!

No new pictures to share, but just had to say WOW today... I am 33 weeks pregnant, and just noticed that my little counter to the right says that I have only 49 days till my due date. We're getting close!

I also read in my 33 week update that gets emailed to me each week that the baby's head grew about 1/2 inch in diameter this week, as his brain continues to grow. While I am all about the brain growth (hey, I want a smart kid afterall!) I am NOT so excited about a big head! Keep it under control in there, Jayden! You can grow as much as you want once you are outside! :)

32 weeks and 3 days... update!

Went to the doctor today for my 32 week check-up, and I am happy to announce that once again both mom and baby are perfectly healthy! For me, I've gained the perfect amount of weight, I have great blood pressure, and no bloating or water retention or anything yet... baby's heartbeat was 152 beats per minute, which is great. Baby is head down with his bum up by my ribs, and his feet are sticking into my right side. Sometimes I feel his little head and hands down by my right hip, and he is always kicking and moving his feet. He moves constantly, and I love feeling him! Jason and I sit and giggle when we watch my whole belly shift and move around. It's the coolest thing ever! He LoVES Jason's voice, and always kicks when he hears it... so sweet!

Only *possible* negative is my fundal height (when they measure your uterus from the outside to get an idea about the size of the baby) should be 32 this week, and mine is 37.... it has been ahead the whole time, but the doctor was hoping he'd slow down and he's not showing any signs of slowing down! Guess he wants to be a big boy like his daddy! But I'm not worried! :)

Ok so with such a big baby, I am huge of course... here are some updated pics:

I have to admit, I think my bare belly is kind of pretty... no stretch marks at all, and you can see a really light linea negra (the dark pregnancy line) but only below my belly button. Oh and my belly button is still amazingly an innie, not an outie, but we'll see if that stays the same for the next 8 weeks :)

30 weeks!

I am now 30 weeks pregnant. I need to take some pics this weekend, but until then, I thought I'd at least post an update.

Things are going great! I am feeling really big and really heavy, but otherwise really healthy and great. At my last appointment I found out I passed the diabetes test, I have perfect blood pressure, my metabolism is working just as it should- the doctor said I am the perfect pregnancy!!

Here is the 30 week baby update from babycenter.com:

Your baby's about 15.7 inches long now, and he weighs almost 3 pounds (like a head of cabbage). A pint and a half of amniotic fluid surrounds her, but that volume will decrease as he gets bigger and takes up more room in your uterus. His eyesight continues to develop, though it's not very keen; even after he's born, he'll keep his eyes closed for a good part of the day. When he does open them, he'll respond to changes in light but will have 20/400 vision — which means he can only make out objects a few inches from his face. (Normal adult vision is 20/20.)

Looks like our little boy is growing and growing! :)

Since I had yesterday off and we needed somewhere to put everything for the baby, I convinced Jason that it was time to buy the rest of the furniture for the baby's room. We went to Ikea and bought the dresser and bookshelf, and got home and went to work!

I'm posting some pics, but please remember it is still super cluttered since I haven't had a ton of time to organize yet. Freaking work getting in the way of my nesting and organizing! :)

After I got back from Orlando, Jason and I had the task of unpacking the mountains of gifts and baby clothes that we received. The first thing we did was unpack the travel system, which consists of the carseat and stroller. We were amazed that we were able to put it together without breaking anything, since every stroller we touched at Babies R Us we broke!

Jason said that once we put the stroller together, it got really real all of a sudden that soon there will be a baby here with us!

Best baby shower ever!!!!

So while I was in Orlando, my mom and fabulous friend Jenny hosted a baby shower for me. It was the best baby shower ever! I seriously couldn't have asked for anything more. Almost everyone that was important to me was there (although Val got stuck in Miami, I hate her job!): mom, Babs (step grandmother), Jenny, Debbie (my second mom!), Barbie, Melissa, Swoopie, and Shelley (who flew all the way from New Orleans just to see me!).

It was so nice just to visit everyone and chat and laugh. We didn't do any games or anything, just visited and spent time together, which was exactly what I wanted!

The baby boy decorations were perfect, the food was yummy, and the company was great. I cannot thank everyone enough- I got way too many gifts, more than I ever ever expected. I can't wait to return the favor and start shopping for everyone else's babies on the way!

Mom and Jenny, thanks so much for making the day perfect. I love you guys!

I went to Orlando last week for a short trip home to visit mom and dad and get some much needed warmth and sun! I flew down Thursday night and stayed until Tuesday morning. Like I said, short but sweet trip. I have the best family ever and it was so wonderful to get to spend a weekend with them! Mom and I had so much fun at my baby shower and shopping for the baby, and just hanging around the house. I miss them so much!

I looked at the pictures, and thought, ok there is no way I am really that big. I certainly don't feel that big! So I changed my shirt (it had to be the shirt's fault, right?!?!) and had Jason take some more...

And... still HUGE! Guess it wasn't the shirt. I'm just big! To be honest, I'm starting to feel it. It was hard to put my socks on today, and it takes me a little longer to get up a flight of stairs now. And I'm still working out, just a tad slower....

Guess the boy is healthy and growing! Less than 3 weeks and I'm in the 3rd trimester already!

Well we were feeling extra productive today and put the crib together too, so now the baby's room actually looks like a baby's room! Jason picked the crib, and he can't stop smiling over how nice it looks in the room!

Nursery update!

So yesterday Jason and I finished painting the baby's room. It's a super light minty green color, and came out so nice! We're planning on putting the crib together soon, maybe tonight, so I'll post pics of the wall color once the crib is together and we have something to show :)

In the meantime, here is the bedding we'll be using:

We got the bedding set, mobile, and a pillow for my chair... I think I'll make my own curtains, and I don't see the need for a diaper stacker and valance and wall hangings, etc.

And call me crazy, but I really want to buy this too:

Isn't it adorable??? There is also a rug I want for the room, but its football themed and wouldn't really go with the puppy theme.... maybe I'll wait till he gets older to do the football thing :)

As I said in my previous post, Jason and I went shopping last weekend as soon as we knew that we had a little boy on the way! I admit we might have gone a little overboard, but hey, we're just a little excited!

BOY!

That's right, the sparkler is a BOY! I surprised Jason yesterday with a 3D ultrasound for his Valentine's day present, so we got to see our healthy baby and find out the gender. As you can imagine, Jason is beyond thrilled. He is a very very very proud papi!

And I hope our little boy turns out just like his daddy, because my husband is one amazing person!

Now... it is time to SHOP! :)

We have a heartbeat!

On Tuesday, January 8, we went for a routine doctor's appointment and got to hear the sparkler's heartbeat for the first time. It was amazing! 155 beats per minute, which according to the old wives tale, means it will be a girl... only time will tell! :)

And in case you wanted some details... I took a home pregnancy test, and (obviously) got a positive result, on 10/28/07. Jason had no idea I was even thinking I was pregnant, so imagine his surprise when I gave him the news!!

10/28/97 was Jason and my's first date.... who would have ever thought that 10 years later we'd be married and having our first baby? What can I say, we're blessed!

I know its been a looooooong time since I've updated this blog in any way, but I am going to get much much better now, and for a good reason. We're having a baby! Yup, its true, soon there will be another member of la familia Jimenez.

I'll be posting pics and baby updates as we go along, so we can introduce our little "sparkler" to all of you! PS- The "sparkler" is due on the 4th of July. You know us, we don't do anything normal or average :)

Our first garden

So this past weekend, the sun FINALLY came out in Vancouver. And it wasn't freezing either, probably in the mid 60s during the day, which is like a freaking heat wave here! :) We took the opportunity to plant our very first garden. Apparantly everything grows well here, since the soil is so fertile and healthy and all that fun stuff.

I have before and after pics, I'll post them soon!

We planted strawberries, broccoli, green beans, spinach, peppers, butternut squash, zucchini, tomatoes, and parsley. Oh, and a blueberry bush! YAY! :)

I also planted 3 rose bushes and a bunch of flowers along the edge of the house to add some color:

It's not our house, just a little rented space for now...but since we have to live there, we want to make it pretty and liveable! And once we get a grill, we plan on spending lots and lots of time out there this summer!

I have to laugh, reading this blog, you would think I'm this incredibly in shape and healthy person, so active and athletic! Well, I don't feel that way! Not even close. But I'm trying...

And to continue in my quest of never ending health.... I'm doing a trialthalon! It's a mini one, swimming 300 meters, biking 20K, and running 5K. Just a mini one to start, but I've always wanted to do one, and this is my start!

It's in August so plenty of time to train. Wish me luck, and I'll be posting lots on my training and updates along the way :)

Completed my first 10K

It's official, I have ran a 10K! What an amazing experience! I ran the Sun Run, which is the second largest 10K race in the world (or something like that... it's huge!) I believe there were just over 54,000 people running. I don't think I've ever been in a crowd that big, forget about running with that many people! It was amazing to look forward, backwards, left, right, and see nothing but waves and waves of people. The pics afterward were even more amazing!

I finished in 67 minutes. Which was absolutely fine with me, since my goal was just to finish the race!

I'm a Group Power instructor!!!

I completed my training last weekend, and as of next week, I am officially starting to team teach as a Group Power instructor! Group Power is a weights class, which gives you a whole body workout in 60 minutes. I'm going to shadow (team teach) for a week or two, but as soon as I complete my certification, I will be temporarily taking over a class while the current instructor has her baby! :) So at least through the summer, I'll be teaching!

I guess this is a good way to get over my fear of public speaking huh? :) This doesn't give me a chance to be shy!

My trip to IDaho...

I was home exactly one week after the cruise when I had to leave for Boise, Idaho. It was a business trip, to a conference for academic advisors. That's me, I'm an academic advisor :) Overall the trip was good, although after spending 4 days with only my boss I was ready to get home. Plus, I missed my puppies!!! But I learned a lot and have a ton of ideas on how to be a better advisor, so that's what matters most right? :)

Our Mexican Cruise!

Our crusie was AMAZING! On April 5, Jason and I drove to Seattle and spent the night. Then the next morning we flew to Los Angeles, where we met my parents (who flew from Orlando to meet us.) The four of us had a really nice dinner out that night in an area called the Grove, and spent the night in LA.

The next morning, we packed up our things and got onto the cruise ship! We went on a 7 day cruise, from LA to Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan, and Cabo San Lucas, before returning to LA. Here's what we did each day:

The first at sea day, we completely lounged around the ship. We all got massages in the spa, and I took advantage of the sauna, steam room, and hot stone relaxation beds! Just typing about it makes me sad, I miss the spa!!! :)

After the first day relaxing, out trip somehow turned into a complete marathon of physical activities! In Puerto Vallarta, the four of us did a 5 mile hike through the mountains, including crossing a river and picking fresh sweet limes and lemons from the trees as we hiked. It was fabulous! We were all slightly sore the next day though.

So the next port day, Mazatlan, was supposed to be relaxing. We spent the morning shopping in the Gold District, and then in the afternoon my father had the genius idea of hiking to the lighthouse. The lighthouse in Mazatlan is the second tallest working lighthouse in the world... you have to hike up a few miles in the dirt before you get to the steps, and there are 400 steps to the top... needless to say, it was another workout. But so worth it, the view from the top was amazing! We could see the ships, the shopping district, downtown, etc. The view of the water was amazing! Then, of course, we had to hike back down again...

The last port day was in Cabo San Lucas. My mother and I went horseback riding. It was the first time riding for both of us, and it was great because they put us on really gentle horses that were used to riding in a straight line, following each other along the beach and through the trees. All together there were about 30 people riding, and the horses literally just followed each other in a straight line. We started at the front of the line, but my horse was so slow and dreamy, he was so happy just gazing off into the skyline and strolling on the beach that everyone passed us, and I ended up being the last horse in the line! The only bad thing about horseback riding was the bruises.... both my mother and I literally had bruises on our asses after the ride! I guess we don't have enough "meat" where our legs meet our booties... but that's not a bad thing, is it? :)

While we were bruising ourselves, the boys were out riding the waives, on a fishing boat. Jason caught the biggest fish I've ever seen, it was over 100 pounds and took 3 people to reel it in! Of course Jason's camera died on the ship, but a nice guy took a pic and emailed it to him, so here it is! Pretty cool, huh?

SO overall the cruise was wonderful, fabulous, amazing... I cannot say enough things. We've decided to do it again next year, make it a family tradition each year (of course, only if my baby bro can join us next year!) Next year we're thinking the 14 day Panama Canal cruise... YAY!

The day after the audition, I woke up and only half of my face was working. Seriously, the right half was completely not moving. I couldn't blink my eye, I could only smile with half of my mouth. My cheek wouldn't move and I couldn't taste on half of my toungue. After a day in the ER and a CT scan, the doctor's decided it was Bell's Palsy. Completely harmless... they dont know why it happens, but for some reason the #7 nerve that runs from the brain to one side of the face gets inflammed and causes temporary paralization. It just randomly happens on random people... but the good news is, it usually goes completely away, and most people get it once and then never again.

For me, it lasted exactly one month. My cruise to the Mexican Riviera was the cure! :)
